For this sound project, I aimed for the audio piece to feel natural. I thought the best way to tie the audio piece to the visual was by reading my own version of 'Where I'm From'. My nephew laughing in the background is taking me back to childhood where everything was happy. I used an old sound box of mine along with waves crashing on the shore in the background to make the beginning feel peaceful and relaxed. I stopped all noise in the middle so the audience can hear a dramatic stop suggesting a dramatic change (relating from childhood into adulthood). Just before this, I overlapped the noise of my fan in the audio because as a teen I spent most of my time there alone with just the noise of the fan. I felt as though this was a good representation of feeling lonely and isolated at the time. I also overlapped my partner reading the end of the poem giving it an echo effect to help show he relates to me and is a big support. I again used my nephew laughing to relate back to the beginning of the audio piece to show that my partner makes me feel like a happy child again. I ended the piece with the waves on the shoreline to really display peace, giving the audience a relaxed vibe at the end.
